Days 1 and 2
The first two days at Summercore have been very interesting and informative. At the same time, it is quite overwhelming in that there is so much to know, learn, and potentially apply to our profession. So far, we have learned a lot about computer hardware and vocabulary, word processing and spreadsheets, and numerous useful websites. We also received some hands-on practice with our iPads, which is something I hope we do more of. As interesting as it is to sit and listen to all of the lectures and discussions, I am hoping for more hands-on activities and do-it-yourself exercises involving iPads, Smartboards, and computer software.
iPads, iPads, iPads
iPads are the new laptops! There are so many uses for the iPad it's incredible. What I am finding is that there are many more uses for apps when you think outside of the box. An app written for a kindergarten class can be just as useful for middle schoolers with just a tweak of how you present the information. An iPad classroom is a powerful classroom.
Day One
The trepidation quickly faltered as we began to explore all the
exciting initiatives available for technology use in the classroom.
Where do I began? Google docs
As a new teacher at North Broward I was excited to share this awesome, wonderful, extraordinary{Is that too many adjectives?}resouce with my colleagues. Google offers the classroom teacher the opportunity to allow our students to explore and collaborate. I am excited to use this resource with my students in the near future.
Another interesting idea we explored was Wordle a "cool" website that fosters critical thinking and problem solving.I must mention voice thread and Goggle search stories other resources that will add some much buzz to our classrooms.
Bring on day two!!!!!
